University Orthopedics is a Rhode Island-based, regional center for sports medicine and rehabilitation with specialty areas in extremity care, joint replacement, spine health, and sports medicine. UOI includes more than 40 board certified, fellowship trained musculoskeletal and sports medicine physicians. These specialists are faculty members of the Department of Orthopaedics at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University who teach medical students, orthopedic residents, and fellowship sub-specialty surgeons. University Orthopedics leads the way with basic and clinical orthopedic research on the latest advances in orthopedic surgery and injury prevention.

The Department of Orthopaedics at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University offers top-notch orthopedic residency and fellowship programs to gifted and dedicated individuals from all over the world. As one of the ten most NIH/VA funded orthopaedic departments in the country, the Brown Department or Orthopaedics provides access to world-class faculty and facilities, resources to purse cutting-edge research, and educational opportunities to students and residents alike. With its long-standing history comes a tradition of producing talented surgeons, empathetic physicians, and astute scientists.

Lifespan, Rhode Island’s first health system, was founded in 1994 by Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital. A comprehensive, integrated, academic health system affiliated with The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Lifespan’s present partners also include Rhode Island Hospital’s pediatric division, Hasbro Children’s Hospital; Bradley Hospital; Newport Hospital; and Gateway Healthcare. A not-for-profit organization, Lifespan is overseen by a board of volunteer community leaders who are guided by its mission: Delivering health with care.

Rhode Island Hospital is the state’s largest hospital, and its only Level I trauma center and verified burn center. The principal teaching hospital of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services, as well as expertise in cancer, cardiology, diabetes, emergency medicine, neurosciences, orthopedics and more.
